Micky Thompson ARPS
Photography has been a personal journey of exploration since I first entered a photographic darkroom at the Hornsey College of Art in 1963. In the intervening years many influences have moulded my personal style.
Training as a graphic designer gave me a strong sense of compositional design, often leading to a 'less is more' way of composing images.
Looking at my photographs, you will notice that I do not concentrate on any given subject matter, my style being defined more by the simplification and isolation of images which become a series of carefully crafted, compositionally pleasing, observed situations which I invite the viewer to enjoy.
The work leans towards the abstract exploring the graphic within the photographic and is bound by a strong sense of composition and style.
